What is Wet Cleaning?
Wet Cleaning is an environmentally friendly alternative to Dry Cleaning. Wet Cleaning uses a specialized machine with a mild detergent and water to safely and gently clean your clothes, while Dry Cleaning uses a chemical solvent to clean your clothing.

Percloroethylene, the chemical used in dry cleaning, has been proven safe when properly used for cleaning, and we do recycle Perc to lessen our impact on the environment. However, Wet Cleaning may be a great alternative for you if you are sensitive to the odor of dry cleaning chemicals or have sensitive skin.

Wet Cleaning is safe for most clothing, although we do not recommend this process for wool items and there may be a risk for slight shrinkage. In most cases, Wet Cleaning is as effective as Dry Cleaning for stain removal and leaves your clothing feeling soft and freshly scented. Wet Cleaning is also gentler to your clothing than hand washing, yet cleans your clothes more effectively than washing by hand.

If you would like to try Wet Cleaning, ask your counter attendant to label your clothes for Wet Cleaning. Our expert cleaner will examine your clothing to make sure that it may be Wet Cleaned- in the case that the cleaner does not feel comfortable Wet Cleaning an item, we will Dry Clean your item.

We do require an extra day to process Wet Cleaned items as the clothing must be completely dry before it may be pressed. Clothing is air dried flat on a drying rack to ensure that the item’s shape is maintained.

Why are women's blouses more expensive to have cleaned than men's shirts?
This is a common misconception. Shirts and blouses are priced according to the amount of work it takes to finish an item. Button down cotton or cotton blend shirts that may be laundered (not dry cleaned) are pressed using a machine and then touched up with an iron by hand. Shirts must be a certain size to fit on the pressing machine. Also, the shirts must be wet to be machine pressed. Small shirts will tear if they are machine pressed.

Both men's and women's shirts that must be dry cleaned, are pressed by hand. Most dry clean only shirts are too delicate to go on the machine press. Also, dry cleaned shirts and blouses are not wet when they come out of cleaning (obviously). Women’s blouses are typically fitted or have more detail than standard button down shirts and require much more time to be hand pressed. Even if your shirt or blouse may be laundered, some materials and styles need hand finishing to look their best. Accent Cleaners charges the same amount for both men’s and women’s dry cleaned/hand pressed shirts.

What if there is still a stain on my clothing when I pick it up?
Accent Cleaners takes pride in doing the best possible job for our customers. We want you to be completely satisfied with our work. If you notice a stain when you pick up your clothes, we will re-clean the item at no additional cost. If you are unhappy with the pressing, again, we will re-press at no additional charge.

Each item in your order is carefully inspected for stains and labeled with a Prespot tag if there is a stain. If you know you have a stain on an item, it is very helpful if you point it out to the attendant when you drop the clothing off and tell her what it is. Stain removal is more effective when we know what the stain is because we can use specific methods to remove it. However, there are some stains that we may not be able to remove- we promise to make every effort, but sometimes, a stain just may not come out, no matter what we try.

What is dry cleaning?
Dry Cleaning is not dry! It is called dry cleaning because, instead of water, we use a solution called perclorethylene (Perc) in a carefully controlled cleaning machine to wash your clothes. Dry cleaning is very effective for removing body oils and stains. When clothing come out of the machine, it is nearly dry and is hung to air out completely before being pressed.

• Stains are noted and marked so that we may pre-treat the stain to better remove it.
• Your garment is pretreated and washed according to the instructions on each garment’s individual care label.
• Each garment is individually pressed by hand.
• Your garment is inspected after cleaning to make sure that stains have been removed and to ensure that it has been pressed correctly.
• We package your garments with no more than four items per order to ensure that they are not crushed.
• Your pants are hung on a high quality hanger with a cardboard strut which is treated to keep items from slipping off. These hangers also keep pants from creasing while on the hanger.
• Your sweaters are also folded over non-slip hangers and individually bagged. Sweaters are folded, not hung, to keep them from stretching.
• Garments are covered with a poly cover to keep them clean.
